About our farm--
In 1999, Steve Colvin purchased 42 mountainous acres of run-down farm in Bledsoe County, TN--fulfilling a life long dream of raising his kids on his own farm. Known locally as the "old J. B. Swafford Farm," it had passed onto "J.B.'s" grandchildren who had logged it in 1996 and and no longer wanted to keep the "old homeplace." About Our Growing Standards--
At Colvin Family Farm, we believe in farming sustainably--using methods that ensure our fields will pass on to future generations in better shape than we receieved them. To help guide our sustainable practices, we participate in the Certified Naturally Grown program, which requires participants to boycott use of synthetic chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides, as well as GMO's and GE seed.
