This past month we've experienced a lot of Winter weather, but this week there has been a soft hint of Spring--teasing us about the new season peeking around the corner. On warm nights the Spring Peepers (those are frogs folks) are singing, we've sighted some Sandhill Cranes flying South, the first litter of piglets has been born, and the lengthening daylight is starting to slowly but surely green the fields and warm the soil. We can't wait to get this growing season going!
In preparation for the new season, we're keeping busy catching up on farm maintenance, cutting firewood, field preparation--and most exciting, planting in the greenhouses. We have thousands of tomatoes, lettuces, cabbages, kales and other crops coming up in the greenhouse--not many people realize that an early mid-June tomato had to be planted sometime shortly after the Christmas before!
Isaac and Dad have been working together on preparing his house, and next week, Isaac and Destany will be getting married--starting out a whole new season of their life together.
CSA update: We have a new 5-month payment plan, and have added the popular New Harvest Park Farmers Market as a pickup location! Check it out on our signup page.
I hope you all enjoy this month's pictures--a big thank you to all that support our family farm, we couldn't be living our dream of working as a family without you!
