What is Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)?

Community Supported Agriculture pairs local consumers who want fresh, local, organically raised food, with farmers who want a guaranteed outlet for their produce, with a fair return.
A group or "community" of consumers supports a local farm by purchasing in advance, shares of that farm's next season's harvest. The farmer grows organic produce for this community and divides the harvest among the shareholders.

What Goes In A Share?

We raise more than fifty different fruits, herbs, vegetables and grains!
To see what we are raising this year, check out our 2011 Crop Harvest Projection Sheet. It details what Fruits, Herbs, Vegetables and Grains we raise, as well as their normal harvest season!
You'll be able to see what we might have in a share at any given time during the season!

What Are the Benefits?

   • You receive 25 weekly share boxes filled with top quality produce! All produce is Certified Naturally Grown--raised without any synthetic chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides!

   • You receive weekly newsletters providing you with recipes for that week's produce as well as pictures, and updates on farm activities!

   • You make a direct connection with our farm and family--you know where your food comes from!

   • You support a local family farm, keeping your food dollars in the community!

   • You get to come see where your food is produced! We host two days annually that shareholders can come out and meet the family and farm as well as pick their own produce! Potluck meal, bonfire, hayrides, farm tours, and recipe swapping--fun for everybody!

Besides receiving a weekly box of high-quality Certified Naturally Grown produce, shareholders also know that they're directly supporting a local farm!
CSA's allow shareholders to re-establish a connection with the food supply that most people feel they've lost.
Shareholders also get to be adventurous cooks! Besides the basics like lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes, and sweet corn, you'll also get lesser known vegetables like kohlrabi, tatsoi, pac choi, and Fennel!

Share Calculator--What size do I need?

• How many people are in your household? 1 point
• How many nights a week do you cook? 1 point
• How many vegetarians are in the house? 2 points
• How many vegetables haters -1 point

Add up your points to see your approximate share size!

• Ten or more points: You probably want a large share!

• Five to nine points: You probably should try a small share

• Less than five points: You should probably consider splitting a share with a friend!

--Disclaimer: This "calculator" should give you a pretty good idea of what the best share size is for you or your family, but it is based off of "average" consumers. Please take into consideration if you think of yourself as "above" or "below" the average vegetable consumer!

If you have any questions about the program, feel free to contact us! We'll be happy to answer any questions you may have and talk to you about our program!
